Kristen Bell Talks Astro Boy

She played the hottie that got tagged by the nerd in Fan Boys to the somewhat bad ass villain in Heroes. Kristen Bell has already made her mark in comic geek utopia with out truly being in a ComicBookMovie. Until now.

Kristen Bell will lend her voice in “Astro Boy“, which will be a 3-D movie from Imagi Studios. Bell voices a human roll opposite the film’s title roll of our robot hero, but she says even though she doesn’t have the lead, her character can stand on there own two feet.

“I play Cora, who is a girl who befriends Astro when he comes down from Metro City onto the surface of Earth,” Bell told Sci Fi Wire. “She runs a little kind of like Peter Pan group of kids. She’s pretty tough, pretty sassy.”

This is Kristen’s first time outing with an “
Astro Boy” material, but don’t worry she has had plenty of time to get acquainted with the
Astro Boy source material.

“I didn’t know ‘Astro Boy’ at all, but now I’m immersed and have all the little toys and stuff,” she states.

Kristen Bell, being reported, as some fans wanting to see her in a Batman film has gotten the chance of being able to watch a pretty big chunk of “
Astro Boy” already. Off course she has nothing but good things to say about it.

“It looks amazing,” Bell states. “To be involved in the process is really exciting, because you see the layers that they put on, and you see when they don’t have the 3-D involved and then when they do, and you see when it’s just penciled out. It was a really interesting process.”

Bell also enjoyed the voice recording process as well.

“Sometimes when another character comes in and records and they like something they have done, you have to match it or be at a comparable state of mind in the scene, because you don’t record with other people.” “Overall, it was a really easy, fun process.”

Kristen Bell Doesn’t Think Veronica Mars Movie Will Ever Happen

In March, show creator Rob Thomas gave an update on the developing Veronica Mars movie, stating that “while the pitch went well and I don’t think the movie’s dead, right now it’s looking depressing.” We haven’t heard anything since, and assumed that it’s fallen into the deep dark depths of development heck. Ad now the star of the series, Kristen Bell, is finally conceding that a film will probably never happen.

Bell tells EW at the Saturn Awards:

I don’t think it will ever happen, and here’s why: Rob Thomas and I had a powwow, and we were both 100 percent on board. We took our proposal to Warner Bros. and Joel Silver told us that there is no enthusiasm to make a Veronica Mars movie, and that is unfortunately a roadblock we cannot compete with. Maybe if we bombard them with letters? Maybe they will change their tune.

Doesn’t sound good at all. I have a feeling that we haven’t heard the last of this project, and eventually things might come together … but will it be too late? I’ve said this before, but I think this requires repeating: How old could Veronica be before the concept just turns into your typical detective mystery?

Part of the appeal of the show to me was the unique spin of setting the detective story in the world of High School and College. And the only way to bring the story back to the school is to set it at a high school reunion… and I’m not digging that idea. And as much as fans are craving for another fix, I’m not sure the story of a 30-year-old Veronica Mars might be all that interesting. And I say that as a fan of the series. Hey, we’ll always have the DVDs, right?

Will Kristen Be Back on Party Down?

According to star Ryan Hansen, production on Party Down season two begins in September. Jane Lynch is definitely not returning. (Ryan: “Kill me now. I love Jane Lynch so much.”) As for the future of his character, Kyle, Ryan says, “I think that he will maybe get a couple little parts, get a big head about it, and then maybe fail a little bit and have to cater to support himself. And hopefully his band, Karma Rocket, can play one of the catering gigs.” And everybody involved is optimistic that Kristen Bell will be back as Uda Bengt. Ryan tells us about prospects for Bell’s return, “I’ll drug her and drag her in, and we’ll just prop her up.” Sounds good to us!

New Astro Boy Images Hit The Net

Summit Entertainment has released a pair of new images from “Astro Boy,” the CGI-animated film based on the popular anime/manga character. The new images feature Astro Boy himself showing off his twin hand cannons, as well as a crowd facing off against a massive robot that — if I’m going to venture a guess — doesn’t exactly have their best interests in mind.

“Astro Boy” stars Freddie Highmore as the voice of the title character, and he’s joined by an all-star cast that includes Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell, Matt Lucas, and many more notables.

It’s been a while since we heard anything new from the “Astro Boy” front, with the last update arriving back in March in the form of a new teaser trailer for the film. Just prior to that, Splash Page debuted the brand new promo poster for “Astro Boy.”

“Astro Boy” is scheduled to hit theaters October 23.
